Welcome to this online workshop. It is designed for helping students to improve their learning. First thing to do is to grab the book Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning by Peter C, Brown, Henry L. Roedinger III and Mark A. McDaniel. I would first check your local and/or University Library, but can also be purchased via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Google Books. This page will give you information pertinent to the course and prepare you to start the course and move on to the Week 1! |

Course Overview and Learning Objectives
The job of an educator is a difficult one. While the goal is to educate, there are so many methods to do so. This course teaches educators some of the most effective methods to teach and the most effective methods for students to learn and study.
After completing the assigned materials for the course you will be able to:

- Understand some of the common misconceptions of learning
- Implement active learning techniques that challenge traditional habits
- Create successful learning objectives using the SMART Learning Objectives templates
- Compare the symptoms of the different mindsets of learner

Requirements for Completion
There are 5 modules for the this workshop. The first four are to be used in conjunction with the chapters in the book and at the end of each module there will be an assessment designed using Quizlet that will gauge your understand of the modules material. The last module is a video designed to better elaborate on the idea of Desired Difficulties and overcoming them with your students.
After this you will be able to take the information from the course and implement the practices you see fit in your work with students.

Instructor Information
Ishmael McKinney is a Graduate of Wright State University with a Bachelors in Organizational Leadership. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Educational Technology in Instructional Design for Digital Learning. Ishmael has a Paraprofessional and Teaching Intervention background and hopes to take the skills acquired in the Master's program in order to develop programs that allow students of socioeconomic status access to higher education.
