Everyday I wake up THANKFUL for another day in my Black skin. Intelligent. Beautiful. Strong. Resilient. Feared. I love y'all. I love us. My Sisters. Blessed is the Black child, born from the Black woman. Your bodies are sacred and magical. You've birthed the revolution and for this we thank you. However I talk to my sisters and while they feel the love, they don't feel heard. Unfortunately, the world burns and they think it's for George Floyd, but we haven't forgot you Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, Sandra Bland and sadly the countless others whom we STILL seek justice for. While the world is shown images of Black men's lives being taken from their body, I think the world knows what would happen if we had to see our sisters, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, bodies in the street. The media may suppress your issues, but I promise; Black Woman, I Hear You. They shame your features yet spend their last to look like you. You're the most educated and least paid. They covet you, they fear you. But remember we love you, we will forever have your back. We see y'all leading the movement but remember to rest Queen, we got y'all. My Brothers. I get it. They fear us more than they love us. A Black Man in America we are scrutinized for doing right, and hated when we doing wrong. But I have a question, when the last time you told your brother, father, uncle, cousin that you love them. There's a reason we are brothers and sisters, despite the world looking at us and telling us we can't as a community we rise. Whether you in the streets in a suit or running around in a white tee, they wish they could be you. I see the ones of us, who avoid the mirror. They are scared to face themselves. They believe who they are told they are, rather than being able to look inward and see the humanity that exists within. We have to repair our neighborhoods but not weaponizing our anxiety in destructive masculine energy. Stop hating your brothers and disrespecting our women. We so strong for a reason, we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We fighting a war the moment we a born in America, but we shouldn't be fighting it in our neighborhoods too. Black Man, I Love You. #BLACKLIVESMATTER, in ALL shapes, forms, sizes, sexualities, religions, genders etc. I admire those outside of out culture marching against us in the street, but they don't deserve the credit for being on the right side of history. This is a battle we will win and we will win it together. |
